The Pine Beetle is the most destructive pest of mature pine in British Columbia. The infestations are causing extensive tree mortality throughout our province. The population of the Pine Beetle has been on the rise over the past several years due to the abundance of mature pine trees and favorable weather conditions. Today it continues to be the largest threat to our forests in terms of timber loss, environmental concerns and negative economic impacts.
