Bordetella avium is a gram negative, nonfermentative, strictly aerobic, motile bacterium from the genus Bordetella which has been isolated from patients with respiratory disease(cystic fibrosis). Bordetella avium has a global distribution, that mainly affects young domesticated turkeys.
